New look for fresh prospects.

Our quick, creative and practical tips embellish your view - with the great side effect that your rooms always remain pleasantly cool in summer.

Nice to push

Photo above: For large window fronts, a panel curtain is an ideal privacy screen . An advantage of the wide panels is that they can be individually made to measure (eg from www.dekofactory.de). They consist of individual panels, which are more stable than curtains and are easy to move. They also do not beat wrinkles. Tip: Printed panel curtains create great decorative effects - depending on how you move the individual panels

partnerlook

Simple bright curtains with a filigree pattern fit well into the dining area - so the whole room looks much brighter and more generous. Chair covers and cushions in the same graphic look as the curtains make the interior even more harmonious. Tip: Combine the pattern in different colors. This will bring more tension into the room. The sewing instructions for the chair dresses are available HERE.

Decorative climate zone

A great alternative to classic curtains are pleats. With their elastic press creases, they fit into any window shape and are ideal for darkening rooms. Variants with air cushions also allow up to 78 percent less heat in the room. Tip: Sun protection does not always have to be practical. Show your courage for color and choose pleats in blue, turquoise or green tones. These shades look nice and fresh in the summer and bring holiday flair to the windows.

Dip-dye Roman blind

With little effort, a simple shade dispenser becomes a small piece of jewelry. First, stir a dye bath in a large, low-stain container (such as Simplicol). Then lower the roller blind to the desired height and pull it out immediately. Repeat the process several times - gradually add more color to the bath. Step by step, lower the shade so that it darkens downwards.

Cool light filter

Bring color into play by sewing three different fabrics together to form a curtain. The combination of white, blue and light yellow brings summery freshness into the room. Put the darkest shade in the middle to shield the sunlight at the same time. Cut the fabrics and sew them together, miss the seams and iron them. Put on a curling ribbon at the top. Tip: A matching wall enhances the feeling of a light sea breeze.

There are three types of roller blinds : transparent variants are similar to curtains, opaque provide additional privacy, and darkening have an insulating effect. In corner rooms whose windows go in different directions, a combination makes sense. Double-woven fabrics with alternating transparent and dense stripes create a Twinlight effect. The fabric strips can be pushed through the two layers so that you can choose between transparency, privacy and darkening.

For plants that are on the windowsill, sunscreen is important. In order to get enough light at the same time, a bistro thread in the thread style is ideal, which only extends over the lower half of the window. This is how it works: Tear off colored fabric remnants of equal size. Iron smoothly and take twice. Lay the loops around a window bar (hardware store) and pull the strips of fabric through once. Line up in different colors next to each other to create a colorful curtain.

Curtains are flexible with a two-part swivel bar (eg from Teba). When you sit in the armchair, you can keep one part closed so you stay in the shade while the other half lets light fall into the room. Here's how: Sew a tunnel about 3.5 cm in diameter at the top edge of the curtain and then pull the bar through.
