In the interview
His blond hair is perfect as always. When we meet Maxi Arland (31) at the airport in Hamburg, he greets us cheerfully. No wonder: soon the moderator goes on a great solo tour, can not wait. "I am so happy, " he says.
Maxi Arland talked to us about his commitment to the "Paths of Loneliness" association - and about two events he has just celebrated.
They are committed to the association that works for older people. Why?
Maxi Arland: Two years ago, I was invited to a gala that honored "Paths of Loneliness." The motto "a long life should be luck, no burden" has deeply impressed me. I wanted to do my part.
They seem like ambassadors!
Maxi Arland : I am a family man. The life experience of my parents has taken me further and made me the person I am.
Have you ever faced the topic of loneliness yourself?
Maxi Arland: Not with loneliness, but with being alone. When I was on tour for the first time. At that time my girlfriend could not be there. There you sit alone in the hotel room and there is nobody there. It's a weird feeling and it's a bit scary, too.
Your girlfriend at the time is your wife today. You have just celebrated your third wedding anniversary ...
Maxi Arland: Yes, but besides the wedding anniversary we had something wonderful to celebrate: Andrea has successfully completed her studies (media law, editor's note). There is a difficult time behind us. Andrea had a long testing period. That's finally over.
How do you spend the time that will stay with you again?
Maxi Arland: We were just golfing and enjoyed some nice days at the Wörthersee. To experience things together without stress - that is the greatest happiness for us.
Do you think after 13 years together of young?
Maxi Arland: First of all, I want to give Andrea the opportunity to prove herself in her job. I do not want her to ever say she missed something. I love what she has achieved so far. And we are sure that we still have enough time to start a family.
They are going on tour soon. Homesick?
Maxi Arland: I have my dad Henry, who plays the clarinet, with me (laughs). Andrea will visit me often and when she's home, there's still the phone.
