The once most beautiful woman in the world turns 80
She lives in pomp and pomp - but she has a heart for the poor
It is a face that enchants. A face so exotic and mysterious: Sirikit of Thailand is a fairytale queen. On the 12th of August she turns 80 - and this is celebrated throughout the country!
As a young woman, she was considered the most beautiful monarch, even the most beautiful woman in the world. In the 60s, Sirikit was celebrated in Europe and America like a pop star, caring for human cradles.
Thailand's king Bhumibol (84) instantly fell in love with her when she was still a young girl and decided: the one or the other! In 1950 they got married. And that the king is so popular with the people, he also owes his wife. Her smile outshone his ever grave face, and wherever they went, Sirikit won hearts. The couple lives in the Chitralada Palace in Bangkok; Twenty court ladies are always in Sirikit's vicinity.
In Thailand, the queen is especially loved because she has a big heart and is so smart. She speaks English, French, Danish and some German.
It is Sirikit's merit that the country's many millions of smallholders live better today. She also drew the travel industry's attention to her wonderful home. Today, the tourists bring a lot of money to Thailand . Yes, this woman is a blessing for her country!
