Princess Maxima: Now she is queen!

In Holland, everything points to the imminent resignation of Beatrix

It was only a single sentence, but in Holland he struck like lightning out of the blue: "As far as I'm concerned, the father of Princess Maxima can be present when Willem-Alexander (45) follows his mother to the throne, " said Diederik Samsom (41), leader of the Dutch Workers Party, quite abruptly in a parliamentary debate. Why did the politician say that right now?

The Dutch were suddenly clear: Samsom must have background information. The abdication of Beatrix (74) is imminent - and Maxima (41) will soon be queen !

Officially there is still no confirmation from the court. But behind the scenes, meaningful decisions must have been made in these fateful weeks. It is an open secret in Holland that Beatrix is suffering unspeakably from the tragedy of her son Friso (43). The prince has been in a coma for more than half a year after his avalanche accident and there is hardly any hope that he will wake up. All the sad times for the queen, especially on October 6, the tenth anniversary of the death of her beloved husband Prince Claus ( † 76) is approaching. It is a great consolation for her that Willem-Alexander was well prepared for the assumption of the throne - and that he and Maxima get a queen to the side, which is incredibly popular and Beatrix filled with pride.

Recently, Maxima had lost more and more work for her. Some suspected that a change of throne might be faster than expected. There are even more clear hints for that. Beatrix's youngest, Prince Constantijn (42), is increasingly aware of representative obligations. He had already announced that after the coronation of his brother he would leave the Belgian adopted country in Brussels and return with the family to the Netherlands. Everything to support Willem-Alexander.

In addition, there have recently been some surprising changes in the staff at the court. Chris Breedveld (49) was appointed the new Royal Cabinet Director. He is considered the ideal right hand for Willem-Alexander . And the renovation work on Drakensteyn Castle has also been completed. There, Queen Beatrix wants to retire after her abdication. And here, the Old Queen will take care of her grandchildren . Of course, she always shows herself to the people. Because in the hearts of the Dutch she will forever keep her place.
