The love for the sweet grandchild
No need to explain to a granny of the world what Queen Silvia (69) means when she says, "Grandchildren are the dessert of life!" It's just too good to see little ones grow up so completely unencumbered by anything In younger years, perhaps even with their own children pressed hard.
The queen enjoys that very much. "It's a glorious time, " she enthuses. "I love being with Estelle (1). It's best to sing with her! "
One who could almost get jealous of these words is Ewa Westling, 68, Estelle's other grandmother. Prince Daniel's mother lives in Ockelbo, about 200 kilometers from the granddaughter. Of course she loves Estelle as much as "Grandma Queen", but she gets to see her much less often.
Even in the summer holidays, the Westlings probably will not have much of the young people this year. Victoria (35) and Daniel (39) have their own summer house on the Swedish island of Öland - with paddling pool and playground for Estelle.
