Like later Princess Diana, Persia's Empress Farah Pahlavi was one of the great ladies of the international aristocracy in the 60s and 70s. Millions admired Farah Pahlavi in her pompous throne in Tehran, millions cried with her when she had to flee her country alongside her husband Reza Pahlavi, and the Shah soon afterward died in exile in Cairo.

But Farah Pahlavis tears should never dry up afterwards. While Farah Pahlavi himself masters her life between France and America with admirable nobility and is still a welcome guest in Europe's royal houses, two of her four children did not realize the changed situation: In June 2001, Farah Pahlavi's daughter Leila (30) in London with tablets life. Now - on 4 January - Prince Ali Reza (44) followed his sister to his death. He shot himself in his apartment in Boston / USA with a pistol.

Now only Prince Cyrus Reza (50, Persia's pretender to the throne in exile) and Princess Fahranaz (47) of her long-suffering mother Farah Pahlavi are on hand .
