LUNG FUNCTION: A TEST MONITORING THE HEALING PROGRAM AT ASTHMA

I was diagnosed with asthma. Now I am to come regularly to the pulmonary function test in the practice of my lung specialist. Should I do that? Simone K. (48), Krefeld

Reply from Dr. Bracht : Pulmonary function diagnostics are a useful method of investigation to confirm the diagnosis of asthma and to monitor the course of illness or healing. But there are other diagnostic procedures. So the type of asthma should be determined to then create the optimal therapy for you. The treatment of allergic asthma is different than that of stress asthma. Your doctor will examine you to hear typical lung sounds. You can also test your lung function at home with the Peak Flow Meter. This device measures how much air the patient can exhale. You can thereby check your constitution for yourself and visit your doctor in case of deterioration.

LYMPHOUSEMS: KEEP THE SWELLINGS INTO CHESS WITH BANDAGES

By removing a benign adipose tissue tumor (lipoma) in the groin and several knee surgeries, my lymphatics have been severely damaged. Since then, I suffer from persistent lymphoedema with swelling in my legs. What can I do against it? Lina B. (37), Cleves

Reply from Dr. Bracht : After a knee operation, lymphedema can occur in the legs. Because if the lymphatic channels are damaged, the outflow of lymphatic fluid is hindered. At the beginning, you will only feel a sense of tension in the affected leg. However, if the lymph is not removed then its composition changes. It solidifies and gets harder and harder. Lymphedema develops, a visible and palpable fluid accumulation in the interstitial space (interstitium). Helpful here are compression bandages. You should wrap your leg tightly with an elastic bandage or wear support stockings, which relieves pressure and stimulates the removal of the lymphatic fluid. In addition, you should start with a lymphatic drainage. Circular shifting techniques are used, which help the lymph drain when the fluid is moved out of the tissue into the lymphatic system and transported away. That brings you relief quickly.

JUCKREIZ: OLIVE OIL HELPS THE SKIN

My skin has recently started to feel very dry and itches in a terrible way, especially when I go to bed in the evening. Is there a cream for the itching? Konny H. (55), Melle

Reply from Dr. Bracht : That's typical for this season. Your skin does not agree that when it's cold outside, it will be wrapped up all day long and can no longer breathe properly. That's why the itching is the worst right after getting undressed. The skin wants to make up for everything it did not get during the day. If you can control yourself now and do not scratch, but rub yourself, for example, with a healthy olive cream, the itching quickly subsides. Olive oil is a very commonly used ingredient in natural cosmetics. This is because olive oil contains vitamins A, K and E, lecithin, flavonoids, chlorophyll and minerals.

Olive oil has a firming effect, moisturizes and inhibits inflammation. Particularly popular is the use of the oil used for centuries in products for very dry and sensitive skin and against dry hair. Because especially very dry skin tends to itch. But do not forget: your skin is nourished from the inside and therefore needs enough healthy oils such as cold-pressed linseed oil, wheat germ oil, hemp oil and olive oil to stay healthy and supple. The oils not only refine a salad dressing perfectly, but they also grease your skin from the inside, so that your annoying itching soon belongs to the past.

            YOUR RIGHT AS A PATIENT

What does the cashier pay? When am I entitled to compensation? Good, if you know his right

            JEWELRY IS MISSING? HOSPITAL LIABLE

During the emergency ECG on the weekend, the nurse told me to quickly drop my jewelry. Afterwards, my gold necklace was gone. Elke A., Stade

The clinician should not advise emergency patients to keep jewelry unsecured for the time of treatment. Because in case of theft in such cases, the hospital carrier is liable to two-thirds. This was decided by the Hamburg Higher Regional Court. (Az .: 1 U 29/89)

                INSURANCE PAYS ONLY WITH COMPLAINT

I had a bike accident a year ago with serious consequences. The accident insurance does not recognize my disability. What can I do? Lara B., Ulm

The legislator says that the insurer can ask for an extra certificate of disability. The medical diagnosis and the medical reports alone are therefore not enough. This certificate can be submitted within 15 months of the accident. After that your claim expires automatically. So you should hurry! (Az .: 5 U 70 / 07-4)

                    CAREER SELF-DETERMINE?

I am in need of care and want a friend to take care of it. Can the health insurance company refuse the care allowance? Ingrid W., Dessau

No. If the quality of care is right and you live at home, you can also decide for yourself who cares for you in everyday life. Even if the care is not 100 percent correct, the health insurance must pay the care allowance. (Az .: L 8 P 10/05)

                        NURSING GYM ALTHOUGH AGING

I am 75 years old and can walk badly. The health insurance denies me the physiotherapy. I'm too old for that. Can she do that? Hilde B., Hanover

No. If your doctor has prescribed you gymnastics to promote your mobility, the health insurance company can not simply refuse this benefit. Even if the hoped-for success does not come with it, it has to pay. (Az .: L 16 B 9/07 KR)
