Germany's richest man was 94 years old
Four years after the death of his younger brother Theodor, the second Aldi founder died. Karl Albrecht leaves a billion-fortune.

As a trained baker Karl Albrecht took over with brother Theo after the Second World War, the parental grocery store, which they expanded and divided in 1961 in Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd . Karl Albrecht died last Wednesday and has since been buried at the municipal cemetery in Essen. Like the entire Albrecht family, the billionaire entrepreneur himself had a time-retired life and virtually never appeared in public. His fortune is managed by a foundation.
