Fast food

A juicy piece of beef, a delicately melting slice of cheese and a fresh leaf of iceberg lettuce. The advertising posters of the fast food chain Burger King promise full taste and unparalleled freshness. Forgo fast food? No way. Until now. Because what the RTL revelation report "Team Wallraff Reporter Undercover" has uncovered in certain Burger King branches (restaurants of the Yi-Ko Holding GmbH of the franchisee Ergün Yildiz), is frightening.

The expiration date is simply ignored

The biggest problem: the freshness. Expired food is said to be sold as crisp in Yildiz-run franchises. Sliced tomatoes are left uncovered for several hours. Instead of exchanging them for fresh ones, one exchanges the labels here rather. Appropriate stickers are ignored, red signal lights too. The salads are stored outside the shelf life on the refrigerator shelf, keeping the meat warm for hours. "Grilled" seems to be nothing but a PR measure.

First in the kitchen, then on the toilet

Feeling happy is whose meat is not affected by intestinal bacteria. According to the team Wallraffs, these are not only on the guest toilets but also in the kitchen. Reason for this: the all-round talent of the employees. Not only do you get the fries from the frying fat or the rodeo burger from the hotplate, you also have to clean the toilets. Who now expects that these at least change the work clothes? None. The reason that a cleaning company is too expensive, meets discomfort. Some stores also lack the interior. Simple kitchen appliances are missing. Working material is rinsed by hand, cans opened with a knife. Yildiz kitchens are lacking in every direction, with just one goal: maximizing profit.

Neither surcharges, nor collective wage

The team led by Peter Wallraff was supported in his investigation by a former shift supervisor, who undercover in a Yildiz-run branch in Munich included. In his job interview, he immediately feels that he should receive neither Christmas nor holiday money. Overtime is not paid. With a monthly gross salary of 1, 500 euros: a pittance. The bizarre: In his acquisition franchisee Ergün Yildiz should have promised that he would pay his employees by tariff. From a mail traffic shows that even mini-jobbers on statutory claims, such as continued pay in case of illness, have to do without.

Two weeks before broadcasting RTL has asked both Ergün Yildiz and Burger King internationally for an opinion. Vain. The Berliner Zeitung has published a list of branches managed by Yildiz.
