Baby sings in the mother's belly

We knew that babies can be really active in the mother's stomach. But that an unborn can react to music that way is just unbelievable.

Scientists at the Institut Marquès in Barcelona have now recorded the movements of a baby in the mother's abdomen with a 3-D ultrasound. And it actually looks like the baby is singing.

In the Spanish study it was to be proven that fetuses can detect sounds even before the 18th week. Ultrasound was used for this. With a special speaker the babies music was played. 87 percent of the fetuses moved their heads and limbs to the music.

The scientists themselves said that it looked as if the unborn children were singing or dancing. Scientifically speaking, the discovery means that babies in the mother's womb are capable of communication. It also makes sense to stimulate and calm babies in the mother's stomach with music.
