Even experienced cake bakers make mistakes again and again

Baking is fun when everything works out the way we imagine. But even as experienced cake bakers, we always make mistakes without knowing it. Would you have thought that you are doing the following things wrong?

1. You take the ingredients directly from the fridge

Butter and eggs must be at room temperature during processing! For this you take them out of the fridge about 45 minutes before. This is important to make them creamier and better connected. So you get a smooth dough without lumps.

2. You use the wrong baking pan

In the recipe, the size of the baking pan is given? Then you should use exactly one form! If you do not have a baking pan of the given size on hand, you will need to adjust the amount of ingredients and the baking time accordingly. If the cake will succeed then you will not see until it's done. The easiest way is probably if you choose a different recipe.

3. You forget to preheat the oven

You made the dough and put it in the greased baking tin. Then you want to put the cake in the oven and you remember that you did not preheat it? If you leave the pie dough now and wait for the oven to warm up, it does not do him any good.

Best of all, then you do without preheating. But you can not stick to the baking time specified in the recipe, but have to keep an eye on the cake and check how far the cake is by checking it. Before you start baking, you should always think about pre-heating!

4. You do not stir the eggs and the sugar enough

Use an electric hand mixer and start with the slowest level. Then slowly increase the level until the dough is loose. You should not stir too briefly, so that enough air gets into the dough. If you take a wooden spoon and stir it with your hand, it takes longer. And please think of the soft butter (see point 1).

5. You tap the bowl with the spoon

You stirred all the ingredients together and are satisfied with your dough? Then you should put away the metal spoon. If you tap the bowl with the spoon so that the dough pieces fall from the edge into the dough, you also knock air out of the dough. That would be a pity for the good work you have already done.

6. You open the oven too soon

It is understandable that you are curious. But if you open the oven during the baking time, you risk that your cake will collapse in the middle. It's better to sit in front of the oven and watch your cake through the oven door.

7. You hit the cream too long

It happens from one second to the other: The cream becomes grainy and curdled. That's why you should stop whipping the cream immediately if it gets stiff. If you continue beating now, butter and whey separate and it becomes inedible.
