Winter messengers

Pine and pine cones are the main actors in this Christmas crafting special. We make wreaths, Christmas tree pendants and candlesticks out of them.

You need this for the candle ring:

  • Wreath: larch twigs (thin), flower wire (craft shop), cones (pine, larch), hot glue gun and hot glue, candle holder or candle dish, cord, scissors
  • Tree: wooden strip, saw, sandpaper (fine), long nails, hammer, cordless screwdriver, cones (pine, spruce, fir)

And that's how easy it is:

Wreath:

1. Wind a wreath of larch twigs and fix with flower wire.

2. Stick individual cones in between with hot glue to make the wreath more luscious.

3. Place candle holder or candle plate with hot glue on the garland.

4. Put cords in three places to loops around the wreath.

tree:

1. Saw square and rectangular blocks from a wooden strip, then sandpaper edges with fine sandpaper.

2. Hammer a long nail into the middle of the block of wood.

3. Pre-drill holes in the pins with the cordless screwdriver and place the pins on the nails.

That's what you need for the gnome:

  • A4 sheet
  • broadcloth
  • plush fabrics
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue
  • rosehips
  • cord
  • Scissors / cloth scissors
  • French chalk
  • Sewing machine with matching yarn

And that's how easy it is:

1. For the template of the cap, fold a DIN A4 sheet diagonally and unfold it again. Lay the long side of the sheet against the fold. This creates a long, narrow triangle. Cut out the triangle.

2. Transfer the template to the wool fabric with a tailor's chalk and cut it out.

3. Place the fabric right side to right and sew together. Turn fabric over.

4. Pull the cap over the underside of the pin and fix it with a little hot glue.

5. Cut a beard out of some plush fabric and glue it to the spigot with hot glue at the bottom, and glue the rosehips as eyes with hot glue as well.

6. Tie a drawstring cord to the top of the hat.

That's what you need for the wreath:

  • about 12 pine cones
  • Wire ring about 20 cm in diameter (flower shop)
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue
  • Acrylic paint in white
  • Gift ribbon in white
  • cedar branch
  • brush

And that's how easy it is:

1. Slide the scales of the pins in the lower area between the wire ring and fix with a lot of hot glue.

2. Paint with white acrylic paint while avoiding the inside of the pin.

3. Decorate with a bow and cedar twig.

You need this for the fireplace lighter:

  • Wax to melt
  • cotton yarn
  • pine cones
  • cups
  • Neutral oil
  • 2 pots for the water bath
  • brush
  • scissors

And that's how easy it is:

1. Melt the wax over the water bath.

2. Wrap a cotton cord several times around the lower part of the pine cone, let it stand about 10 cm.

3. Grease the cups well with oil, then pour in the melted wax approx. 2 cm high.

4. Put the pins in the hot wax and place the thread end over the edge of the cup.

5. When the wax is hard, use the thread to loosen the pin from the cup.

6. Cut the thread.

What you need for the candlesticks:

  • pinecone
  • cordless drill
  • Candle plate with candle
  • Plasticine in brown

And that's how easy it is:

1. Pre-drill a hole in the pine cones from above with a drill and insert the candle dish.

2. For better stability, stick some brown plasticine under the pine cones.
