Sportswear: From the past to today
Lucky that today we no longer have to go to the sport with a petticoat dress! We have the most interesting sports outfits for women since 19.

In 1850, the woman wore no pants, so sport was quite simply done in the dress! Partly with hoop skirt or bodice. Bet that our today's sports leggings are much more comfortable! Anyone who still likes petticoat dresses can look at a selection of the most beautiful models.
Even in 1905 clothes were still common for training, as can be seen in this photo of an outdoor exercise class in an English backyard.
In 1928, the sport fashion was already a bit more pleasant: The lady in the photo wears a light dress while she trains with the vibrating "slim machine". But pay attention to the footwear of the athlete.
Women in the US had to adhere to a strict training dress code in 1937. Here are the first models of leotards. From this point on, women no longer wore everyday clothes for sports. Sometimes a dress that reminds you of a satin negligee.
In the 50s, yoga was already doing the rounds. This one wore a swimsuit-like onesie.
In 1956, these Swedes tried on a Sweat one piece, the pants like an oversized diaper acts.
In 1960, stripes came into play and sportswear became two- and multi-colored. In the photo, the American runner Wilma Rudolph can be seen, while she sets a running world record (22.9 seconds to 200 meters). Was it because of the run-wear?
This lady would not stand out in a gym today. The sportswear of the 70s made no big fashionable surprises.
The 80s and 90s, but all the more! Aerobic outfits were announced. The louder, the better.
In 1990, running pants and shirt were replaced by a sports suit or two-piece.
The running trend can not be stopped from 2000 onwards. Most of all in packs and white sneakers, as the ladies of the "Empire State Building Run-Up" show.
Or quite idyllic and alone in nature?
In 2012, the Zumba trend came and suddenly it was again colorful in the sports studios. But what are these funny cargo pants supposed to do? Incidentally, the typical Zumba student participant appears completely dressed in "Zumba" in the first lesson - even if she can not remember a single step sequence! The main thing is the outfit right.
2014 may not be missing a sports accessory: Colorful sneakers! Best in neon colors. Even better, when the rest of the sport outfit is tuned to it. Well, sport in a hoop dress like in the 19th century is certainly uncomfortable and we should be glad that we can wear pants today!
