She was the victim of a shitstorm - and suspected of nothing
A stranger took a photo of this mother with her little daughter without asking. And put it on Facebook. The reactions? Condescending! And the mother was not to learn of her shitstorm until much later.
What a shock it must have been for a Florida mother: 31-year-old Erica Kalnins has been made aware by her sister-in-law that she's the victim of a viral shitstorm on Facebook. In the review: A photo that was taken without her knowledge. This is a nasty comment that the mother of two children so quickly can not forget.
What is it exactly? Erica Kalnins went shopping with her sick five-year-old daughter. In a shop of the US chain of stores "Icing" made the branch manager a photo of the two, posted it on Facebook - with a nasty comment that could make any mother with anger in the eyes in tears:
"This is the kind of ignorance that is passed on to the children and so people make it impossible for their children to be independent, " says Mindy Domingo, store manager at Icing. "The girl is at least 5, but what you do not see in this picture is the 1 1/2 year old in the stroller, God, people are so stupid!"
In the picture you can see the five-year-old daughter in a carrying strap on her mother's back. And in addition to the condescending commentary on the photo, the store manager also does not hold back in the comments under the post with their criticism. So she writes that the daughter was absolutely fine, that she could "look at jewelery without any problems". And continues: "I can not tell you how many children I see in this type of risers, which must be 5, 6, 7 or 8 years old.My stepdaughter was already at the age of 2, without stroller." Later she writes: "Ridiculous, take care of your damn children, leave them strapped in the stroller, at home or do NOT become parents !!!"
Erica Kalnins, the girl's mother, was shocked when she read all this and tried to contact the woman so she could take the picture with the comments offline again. But instead of an apology or even an answer, the woman simply put out her entire Facebook profile.
"It's not okay that my five-year-old daughter and I were photographed shopping in this shop - as well as posting the photo on the Internet and offending people on it, " says Erica Kalnins in an interview with American People magazine. She also tells us that she both like to wear her daughters. On the said day, she did so for a reason: her older daughter was ill. "Actually, we only did a short stop, she did not feel so good, but she wanted to watch the bracelets."
The photo and Erica Kalnin's story has been shared and commented hundreds of times, including countless comments that defend the mother and encourage her with her own photos and stories.
The fashion chain Icing also commented on the incident with a statement on Facebook: "We are appalled by the views of this store manager, who in no case agree with ours." Personal consequences were drawn. " The company also apologized personally to the mother.
