Madeline Stuart wants to conquer the fashion world

18-year-old Maddy from Australia is a model and suffers from Down syndrome. Her big wish: She wants to change the way people think about beauty.

Madeline Stuart lives in Brisbane, Australia. The 18-year-old was born with Down syndrome. But that should not stop Maddy in life. In all her projects, she gets support from her mother Rosanne, who wants to give her daughter the same opportunities as any other girl of the same age. " People with Down syndrome can achieve anything, they only do it in their own rhythm, give them a chance and they'll exceed your expectations, " says the proud mom.

And that Madeline has her own mind, shows exactly 1.5 years ago. When the then 16-year-old has to realize in frustration that she can not hit a bike because of her overweight, she decides to lose weight. With discipline, sport (swimming, dancing, cheerleading) and a healthy diet, Maddy actually manages to tumble about 18 kilos.

The slender Maddy likes herself very well. And her mother also sees the positive change in her daughter. The changed way of life has given Madeline more energy and self-confidence, says Mother Rosanne. And maybe that's why the 18-year-old now decides to go one step further: She wants to be a model!

Madeline, who is currently looking for an agent, has yet another goal: she wants to change the view of people on the subject of 'beauty' and fight discrimination against the disabled.

On her Facebook page, Maddy writes, " Modeling will change society's view of people with Down's syndrome, and my photos will help create acceptance. " And her mother's right: "I think it's time to that everyone realizes that people with Down syndrome can be as sexy and beautiful as they should be celebrated as well, "said Rosanne in an interview with Buzzfeed.
