Personality check via app

Which Facebook friend has a personality similar to yourself? That now reveals the new app Five Labs. How this works and what you have from it, we reveal here.

The colleague with whom you spend your lunch break, the guy we met at a student party back then, or your best friend? Or maybe Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus or Ryan Gosling? Who on Facebook is the most similar?

The new app Five Labs reveals just that and analyzes the words used in the posts to create a personality profile.

The San Francisco-based company's application for its app is based on a speech study by psychologist H. Andrew Schwartz of the University of Pennsylvania, which says the following five basic dimensions are key to one's personality: openness to experience, the attitude to the outside, understanding, neuroticism and conscientiousness.

For the study, Schwartz has assigned 75, 000 people to dimensions according to his linguistic approach, and they have also completed standard personality tests. The result: impressive 92 percent agreement!

The app Five Labs scans all the words that have ever been posted by one and the other, and assigns them to the individual dimensions. The complete personality analysis only takes a few seconds.

Everything you need: your own Facebook profile - and the posts must be in English.
