We tell you when you should submit your holiday to be particularly cleverly free

Take 1 day off, have 4 days off. Take 2 holidays, have 6 days off. Anyone who makes particularly clever use of the 2016 Brückentage can get away with a lot of free days.

Even though the holidays tend to be more friendly in the coming year 2016, we can still spend a lot of free time with just a few days off.

We tell you, which days you should secure yourself now (a prerequisite for our calculations is, of course, a working week from Monday to Friday):

Brückentage 2016: Magi

Nice for the Bavarians, the Baden-Wuerttemberg and the workers from things-Anhalt: The Holy Three Kings on January 6 is still a public holiday with them. They fall on a Wednesday 2016. If you take the 4th and 5th of January off, you have 6 days to go through the New Year's Day on Friday!
Use: 2 days, result: 6 days free

But even if you do not get rid of the 4th and 5th of January, on the days after the Three Kings, on the 7th and 8th of January, you can still extend a weekend properly.
Use: 2 days, result: 5 days free

Brückentage 2016: Easter

Fortunately, Easter is still free nationwide and thus offers us two shortened weeks thanks to Good Friday and Easter Monday.

You have three options:

Take the week before Good Friday, ie March 21 to 24, and thus connect the weekend before with the long Easter weekend:
Use: 4 days, result: 10 days free

Take off the week after Easter, so March 29 to April 1 (so you also escape evil April fools of your colleagues ...) and connects with the long Easter weekend with the following weekend:
Use: 4 days, result: 10 days free

Or go into the full and take off both shortened weeks before and after Easter, so from March 21 to April 1, 2016:
Use: 8 days, result: 16 days free

Brückentage 2016: Ascension, Pentecost and Corpus Christi

Unfortunately, the day of work on May 1st will fall on a Sunday in 2016, but May offers other nationwide public holidays with which excellent bridge days can be used!

Ascension Day traditionally falls on a Thursday each year. Anyone who frees up here on Friday after that, ie May 6, has a long weekend.
Use: 1 day, result: 4 days free

You can also combine Ascension and Pentecost : apply for holidays from 6 to 13 May.
Use: 6 days, result: 12 days free

Thanks to Whit Monday, we have a short week in mid-May. Use them and apply for holidays from 17 to 20 May.
Use: 4 days, result: 9 days free

Corpus Christi again affects only a few states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, a part of Thuringia and the Saarland. As every year, the holiday falls on a Thursday, May 26th. If you take the 27th of May off you have another long weekend.
Use: 1 day, result: 4 days free

Brückentage 2016: Day of German Unity and Reformation Day

In 2016, the day of German unity, ie the 3rd of October, falls on a Monday and automatically extends the weekend before that. Those who then take off from October 4th to 7th, 2016 and thus combine the extended and the normal weekend, get a lot of free with a small amount of money.
Use: 4 days, result: 9 days free

The same applies to the Reformation Day, which is still a public holiday in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. As the holiday falls on a Monday, it automatically extends a weekend. Anyone who joins two weekends, ie takes free from 1st to 4th November, has much free:
Use: 4 days, result: 9 days free

Brückentage 2016: All Saints day and penitentiary

Allerheiligen on November 1, public holiday in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, falls this year on a Tuesday. Since it makes sense to take the Monday, so the 31st October free.
Use: 1 day, result: 4 days free

The day of penitence is unfortunately only a public holiday in Saxony. He falls, as every year, on a Wednesday. 2016 to the 16th of November. Those who take off the two days before or after, can combine the holiday with one of the weekends before or after.
Use: 2 days, result: 5 days free

But you can also take the whole week off and save a day, dear Saxons. So apply from 14 to 18 November holiday.
Use: 4 days, result: 9 days free

Brückentage 2016: Christmas and New Year's Eve

Applying for holidays from December 27th to December 30th, combining Christmas and New Year's Eve (which, unfortunately, are rather unfavorable for employees this year ...)
Use: 4 Uralubstage, Result: 9 days free

So you save on vacation: 21 saving tips for the holiday
