Frozen pizza

Cooking has never been so easy: carton open, pizza out. And off with it in the oven. The Germans love their frozen pizza. On average, every German eats eleven frozen pizzas a year. And most of all, salami. But how good are the pizzas from the freezer?

A good pizza does not always have to come from the Italian. Many frozen pizzas can surprisingly keep up with the Italian original. Stiftung Warentest has taken the test and has taken 27 salami pizzas (82 cents to 4.50 €) under the magnifying glass. The result: 19 pizzas with a grade of good, 6 pizzas with a satisfactory rating and a pizza with a good rating. A pizza fell through with the grade poor.

In addition to the salami pizzas of well-known market leaders, the testers also sampled the pizzas of cheap discounters. Both the expensive and the cheap pizzas were able to convince the experts for the most part. The topping is particularly aromatic and the bottom consistently crunchy, so the test verdict. Bitter aftertaste: the high proportion of fat and salt.

The winner: 'The freshly baked salami' from Original Wagner (grade 1.8). Especially in terms of taste, the salami pizza scored points. The experts praise the slightly spicy, aromatic salami, the fruity tomato sauce and the Mediterranean herbs.

The best cheap pizza: 'Mama Mancini noble salami' by Aldi-Nord (grade 2, 2). The inexpensive salami pizza (83 cents) can not quite match the taste of the brand products, but it convinces in terms of quality. The cheap pizza from Aldi-Nord has a lower salt content than its competitors.

The loser: 'Pizza Salami' by Casa Romantico (score 5.0). The taste in order, the quality poor. The testers found large amounts of white oil in the bottom of the pizza. An oil used for technical machinery and equipment.

From the freezer or from the Italian - a pizza tastes best if it's homemade. Gustoso!
