If it's up to us, the summer should last forever! And with these tricks your balcony stays presentable and wonderfully green all season long.
Rain, sun and various barbecue evenings straining garden, balcony and plant life - so that in late summer everything still looks as fresh as at the beginning of the warm season, we have a few simple tips for you.
Clever tips for every direction
The north balcony hardly gets sun. All the more important to make yourself comfortable with colorful, cuddly accessories. Colored flowering plants, eg. B. begonias, set additional accents.
It is sunny in the morning early in the morning. Ideal to start the day with a cup of coffee on a cozy lounger . Plants for light shade, z. As daisies, are just right for this balcony.
The south balcony has sun all day long. A screen with sufficient UV protection (ideally SPF 50+) is indispensable here. With the strong radiation come Mediterranean plants such. B. Lavender, cope well.
The west is the windward side. So be sure to attach a windscreen to the railing. On the afternoon sunny balcony grow plants for the penumbra, z. As lilies, best.
It's berry!
Space is on the smallest balcony - even for a small garden: Let herbs and flowers just grow up the wall (eg planting modules, set of 3, about 60 €, Design3000). And where a lot of sun is coming, you can even grow your own strawberry field.
Lid on it!
So that insects do not confuse them with a pool, we simply cover our drinks! With decorative leaves that can do more - serve snacks and glasses. ("Leaf-on", 2.6 x 9.2 x 13.4 cm, set of 4 approx. € 8, Koziol)
Keep the grill in good condition
Rub the rust thoroughly with cooking oil before the barbecue. This makes it easier to turn the grilled food and the grate does not crust as much. After the barbecue wrap the griddle in newspaper and water liberally. Soak overnight and remove the dirt with a rag.

To beep
Always in action when you need it: water storage "Bördy" (from 15 cm, about 4 €, Scheurich) takes care of your balcony plants reliably when you are on vacation. Just put in the box (eg "Country", about 15 €, Emsa) or pot and fill with water. Then the funny bird gradually releases the vital water, as needed.
Clean thing
Gray was yesterday. Today, we bring back the original wood tone: To do so, thoroughly clean the weathered surfaces of outdoor furniture or floors (eg click tile, 30 x 30 cm, 6 pieces approx. 20 €, Obi) and apply a wooden de-icer (eg. 0.5 l, about 4 €, Baufix) spray. Then work in with a root brush, leave for a maximum of 30 minutes and rinse with plenty of water. Looks like new!
