Bizarre bureaucratic madness
It is bizarre, on which thoughts the security experts of the English royal family so come. The owner of a nightclub in London's Chelsea district was also surprised recently. This "hot spot" Prince Harry (28) visited before his Afghanistan mission - with unforeseen consequences for the owner ...
What happened? On one of his usual party outings, Prince Harry visited that nightclub with friends. When the party company wanted to leave the club, the paparazzi had already gathered outside, waiting for their chance to "shoot down" the prince.
Nightclub owner Giorgio Burlo had mercy and wanted to allow the hunted prince a quiet finish. So he left him and his friends out the back of the emergency exit. So far so good.
The next day, the press reported on Harry's secret departure and promptly an official from the Health and Security Council of the Kensington Palace stood at the door of Giorgio Burlo. Reason: It is due for a new surface for his backyard.
"Apparently there was concern that Prince Harry might trip over and get injured next time, " Burlo told the Daily Mail.
Surely the backyard is a bit rough, Burlo admits. But the emergency exit is finally no regular exit.
"I could not believe it - not least because Harry was not sent to Afghanistan long after, where - of course - the chances of getting injured are a bit higher, " Burlo says incredulously.
Burlo tasted his "backyard renovation" for around 1, 400 euros. Now everything is smooth and even. "I'm not responsible for the advice, " he says. "The man was very nice and friendly and he has to do his job."
Burlo is well aware of the irony of this bureaucratic madness. "I did him a favor and finally had to pay for the repair." As the saying goes, good deeds reward God immediately?
At least Prince Harry can now visit a nightclub with an optimally finished backyard without any security concerns. Stumble free zone. If that is nothing!
