Despite 53 years of age difference, the granddaughter feels a deep connection. Why her grandmother is her closest friend is here.

It's so exciting, I have a lump in my throat, my heart is pounding against my chest.

My friend Stefan (32) proposed marriage to me after a year of super-happy relationship, and I said yes, because he is the man of my life, with him I want to grow old and have children. This marriage will seal our happiness. We will marry in the village and celebrate a big party with the whole family. And I need a groomsman! I want it to be a person to whom I can entrust everything that can advise me in all circumstances and also in marriage.

I do not have to think twice, my maid of honor will be my grandmother Brigitta (82)! She knows me like no other human. With her I spent my summer vacation in childhood, she has comforted me with lovesickness and is still an important guide for me. My grandma is also my best friend.

I grew up with my parents on a farm in Bargfeld near Hamburg. Grandma (she is the mother of my mother) lives in Holdenstedt, which is only ten kilometers away. My grandparents are also farmers - that is probably in the family. Her farm was my second home. There were cows, pigs, calves, cats, dog "Bobby" - and my grandma. Even though she had a lot to do in the fields, she always had time for me and my two brothers Christian (31) and Karsten (25).

With her we were allowed to play in the hayloft, collected beetles in the garden and in the evening she pressed a large loaf of bread to her breast and cut off thick slices of finger with a huge knife.
