His heart beats for Greenland: untouched landscape, silence, cutting cold, polar bears, treacherous crevasses ... For ten years Markus Lanz (41) has visited the land of eternal ice, which fascinates him so much - even published a book of pictures on these trips. But what is strange for some: Almost always was his son Laurin (10) with him in Greenland - on the first trip together, the little was just four years old! NEW POST wanted to know more about it and asked Markus Lanz in an exclusive interview: Are not such trips too dangerous for the boy?
"Birgit knows that I never put Laurin in danger" "No", the moderator refuses. "I've ruled out all the real hazards." And he reveals why he likes to have Laurin with him when he's experiencing adventure: "I always wanted my dad to do something like this to me. I wanted to go to the exciting places. There, where you meet wild animals, sleeping in the tent. But my father was not available for it. " Tragic: His father died when Markus Lanz was only 14 years old. For him, the trips are therefore also a matter of the heart: "I'll catch up with everything now: with my son." And has been infected by the passion: "Now it is he who launches a protest, if it is not a year after Greenland is leaving , " says Markus Lanz with a smile, who always carries three Mickey Mouse paperbacks and a shovel as a toy for Laurin during the travels. The baby's mum, Birgit Schrowange (52), supports the father-son adventures: " Sie I know I never put Laurin in danger. " Greenland lurking behind almost every iceberg. Markus Lanz knows that, and that's why he says, "If it gets really dangerous, I'll leave that. I'm a scared person!" But he could not always protect himself, suffered from frostbite on his fingers and injured his foot as he fought a chunk of ice ran. "Your own stupidity is always punished, " he laughs.
Once it even came to a life-threatening encounter with a polar bear: "He was up in front of us!", Remembers Markus Lanz horrified. " That was an insane moment!" With paddling and noise, the predator was expelled - and he was glad that Laurin was not on this trip ... Even his girlfriend Angela (28) will not often accompany him. "She was once with it, " reveals the TV man. "But if you have a basic need for hygiene, that's not the perfect place." No running water, no showers, no bed - that's what sometimes bothers him. "It's always terrible in the beginning, and I go up the walls for the first few days - the unfamiliar silence." Nevertheless, every day in the ice is something special for him. Especially when his son is there. Laurin will surely remember these adventures forever ...
