Easy care green for balcony and garden

Whether as a garden plant or in the bucket on the balcony or the terrace, lamp cleaning grass is always a natural, attractive sight and gives rise to a cozy feeling of beach holidays.

Sea, wind, waves, dunes - every Sylt, Amrum or generally North Sea fan has the smell of salty sea air in the nose and hear the rustling of the dune plants in the fresh breeze. How nice it would be to be able to take such a piece of vacation home with you. Unfortunately, this is not possible, because in the open nature the coastal planting is under strict nature protection.

Anyone who would like to raise their own North Sea feeling in their garden, on the balcony or on the terrace should be recommended to use lamp cleaning grass . It is an easy-care ornamental grass, which looks very similar to the typical dune plants and is just as beautiful in the wind.

Lampentregrass, also known as feathered grass, is available in 80 to 120 different species. Winter protection is recommended for most of them, especially for the plants in the pot. The non-hardy varieties are best suited as a container plant, which can be put in a frost-free, protected place in winter. All varieties have decorative notes and give the garden or balcony an original, natural look. When planted in the garden, lampreys can grow over a meter high and almost two meters wide . It is therefore particularly well suited as a border for garden ponds, as a privacy screen or as a natural-looking loosening between flowerbeds.

The right care

The plant is generally considered robust and little need of care. It prefers a warm, bright and sunny location. Lasting drought does not get the lamp cleaner grass, the earth should therefore be kept moist regularly - but without causing waterlogging. Lamp cleaner grass does not have to be cut into shape. It is enough to remove dried stalks here and there. However, in order to ensure that the new outage will be strong in the spring, the lamprey grass should be radically cut back at the beginning of the year in February or March, about a hand's breadth above the ground.
