She is beautiful, fit and has what many women want. Nevertheless, fitness model Madelyn is unhappy with her life.

"I have not got my period, lost all friends and had the worst bloating of my life, " is how Madelyn from Colorado describes her career as a fitness model. Happy sounds somehow different, right? Exactly. This is also confirmed by Madelyn: "I felt isolated, hungry, anxious and unhappy.

Fitness models are considered healthy and fit. Many of them can only keep their weight because they have eating disorders . Madelyn too was obsessed with having the perfect body. She was always looking for other women who might be fitter or more accomplished than herself.

And their eating behavior changed drastically over time. A nutritional coach even told her to abstain from fruit . That ended with Madelyn training twice a day, feeding only on chicken, protein, oatmeal, peanut butter, broccoli, and protein powder . This lasted for 5 months.

At competition times, Madelyn had only 6.5 percent body fat. Extremely little for a woman. But she did not do that happily. "I always had to remember that the only thing people would say at my funeral is that I ate well."

Madelyn was always at risk of being disturbed. But it only became serious when she went to college. Since she started fitness competitions and their extreme eating habits. She thought that she would finally get the perfect body. But what she got was heavy bloating from the whole protein and a missed menstrual period. Besides, she was unhappier than ever.

Already after the second competition Madelyn knew something had to change. She moved to another state and only told her parents where she was going. In addition, she no longer trained and fed on pizza and ready meals. Her therapy, as she says today.

Meanwhile, Madelyn is happier again. She herself became a nutrition coach. For young girls, she has a crucial advice: "Stop emulating your fitness idols on the internet because that just makes you unhappy." Decide to be happy instead. "

Although Madelyn is still slim today, she has freed herself from her fear of food.
