Slim and healthy through fasting

In Lent you do not need much. Because in these days or weeks, only minimal calorie amounts are allowed during the day. On the menu are mainly juices, teas and broth. In between, there is plenty of mineral water and herbal tea. The body receives so neither fat nor protein, which protects the digestion and metabolism.

The liquid food supplies all the necessary vitamins and minerals that drain, strengthen the connective tissue and ensure that you can do your everyday life as usual. Because the body of healthy people has enough reserves to have enough energy for a few days despite greatly reduced calorie intake. The vital substances of the liquid food are sufficient to drain the bodily functions as usual. The intestines and kidneys excrete excess residual nutrients thanks to the many fluids, so that the body is cleansed from the inside. Feelings of hunger are rare. The reason is the slow drinking. In Lent, fruit and vegetable juices are diluted 50:50 with mineral water and then spooned like a soup. The saturation effect is much higher than normal fast drinking, because spooning stimulates salivation, activates the digestive glands and ensures that the nutrients are utilized in the best possible way.

The fasting begins with two days of relief to prepare the body. It's best to start on a Saturday. Then the actual fasting follows with five days, during which you must not eat anything solid. But they take up a lot of liquid: unsweetened teas, diluted fruit and vegetable juices and vegetable broth. As inexperienced Faster these five days are enough. If you decide to fast again a few months later, you may also take up to ten days of fasting. Following the drinking days follow two days of cultivation, in which you slowly get used to the body again to solid food. Let's start with an apple and a vegetable soup.

As an alternative to classic juice fasting, beginners can try a weakened version - the fruit and vegetable cure (see below). Here you also start with two days off and finish with the days of construction. The difference: not only liquid food is allowed, but also fruits and vegetables. Cigarettes, coffee, soft drinks and sweets are taboo. To aid in cleansing, the intestine should be emptied regularly with Glauber's salt (pharmacy). By removing toxins and waste, you can avoid feelings of hunger and discomfort such as headache and body aches. Yoga, swimming or other light sports should accompany the cure, as they gently stimulate the circulation.

Fasting for beginners

Such a severe fasting cure can be quite intimidating. Especially if you have no experience with fasting, you do not always trust the original. For all those who would like to try it out without giving up solid food, we recommend a fruit and vegetable cure . The body absorbs only a small amount of calories, but lots of vitamins and mostly basic foods, which stimulate the intestinal activity. Liquid is also given during Lent in the form of herbal teas, ginger water and water.
