No princely couple that opens the rose ball ...

There is only one true First Lady in Monaco - Princess Caroline in luck.

One man's meat is another man's suffering. While Princess Caroline (56) now held the spotlight on the Rose Ball in Monte Carlo Hof, the real First Lady, Princess Charlène (35) sat like a Cinderella at her side. A symbol of the new, old hierarchy at Monaco's yard.

It is Caroline's family that gives the mini-state of the Mediterranean its splendor. It is her son Andrea (28) who secures the succession. Not the still childless princess! On March 21, Tatiana Santo Domingo, 29, the lovely fiancee of Caroline's eldest son, gave birth to a little boy in London. Finally a Grimaldi heir to the throne! All Monaco is happy with the proud granny Caroline.

Because the baby changes everything. Little Sacha - with a happy smile Caroline had betrayed the name of her first grandson on the ball - becomes number three in the line of succession. As soon as his parents married Andrea and Tatiana in July, he is a legitimate heir to his great-uncle Albert (55)! The Prince seemed at the rose ball like a heavy load free of loads, the baby seems to have taken from him the pressure.

Charlène was offside. With a tormented smile, the Princess sat at the table of honor, scarcely saying a word, while all around her chatted, danced, enjoyed life. Everything revolved around the overjoyed Caroline, her beautiful daughter Charlotte (26) and her smart son Pierre (25) and, of course, his absent brother Andrea, the newly minted daddy.

Charlene seemed, as so often, to have no desire for this, so important for the princely family, appointment. And this time Albert took no notice of his wife. The prince walked alone through the rows of tables, chatting in perfect mood here, sometimes there. And for the first time in the 59th anniversary of the Rosenballs dance was not opened by the prince! Not once did Albert lead his wife to the dance floor.
