Round birthday
Although his 80th birthday is only on 11 June, but as so often in the Royals great events cast their shadows, and therefore in Denmark, the Honorary Day of Prince Consort Henrik is duly celebrated in advance.
It starts on May 28th. Then, in Frederiksborg Castle, a large exhibition dedicated to the husband of Queen Margrethe will open. So the man who, as a count from France, married into the Danish royal family in 1967, who became Margrave's consort in 1972, proclaiming her two sons - Frederik and Joachim - and thus helping secure the monarchy in our northern neighbor.
Of course all Danes are allowed to celebrate Henrik's birthday . In the Concert Hall of the Danish Radio (DR) in Copenhagen there will be a big gala on June 1st, which will be broadcast live on Danish television. The festive evening will be hosted by Nikolaj Koppel, who recently came into the limelight internationally at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Henrik wants to celebrate his real birthday - on June 11th - privately in the circle of his large French and Danish families at his castle Chateau de Cayx. As everyone knows, there is a barrel of fine wine stored in the vaults.
