The boy started the return journey via Munich on Wednesday.
How could the boy be kidnapped?
Before the incident came, the divorced parents of the boy had been arguing for months on father and son for a vacation together . In July 2015, the boy's father finally received permission to travel to Turkey with his son . His ex-wife suspected a planned kidnapping and protested - but without success. Demien should have returned to Belgium on 15 July 2015, but neither he nor his father returned.
The mother had no information about her son's stay and searched for her son in Turkey. In Belgium, she sued for child abduction. Finally, the Belgian foundation Child Focus and the Turkish authorities helped.
