Great interview

In the ARD movie "Homicide Istanbul" on 20 November you play a bank director ....

Barbara Wussow: Yes, I really liked the role. Actually, one knows me more from the romantic love stories. But this time, I am a bank director who helps, among other things, to solve a bank robbery. Of course I also love love stories - who does not - but I have the feeling that I am in an actor's upheaval phase, which is very exciting. This certainly has something to do with the fact that I get older every year.

Are you afraid of the age?

Barbara Wussow: Oh no, not at all. Every age has its challenge. Every life has several lives. Every life has several phases. So now I have the feeling that I am currently in a phase of change. As if I were reinventing myself. Especially professional. That is exciting. Of course, I also see that as realistic.

Do you also reinvent yourself privately?

Barbara Wussow: Oh no, I enjoy with my husband and children and our lives every day. I really do not want any big changes, because every day is beautiful. I love it when we sit together at the dining table three times a day. Morning, noon, evenings. And there are almost always guests there. Like an Italian extended family . Friends, acquaintances, secretary, nanny, cleaning lady, children, husband. I always cook myself and it's all incredibly beautiful.

Do you cook every day?

Barbara Wussow: Yes. Already for reasons of healthy nutrition . Everything freshly prepared. Frozen food may sometimes be, because that is in principle also healthy. But mostly everything is fresh from the market. Alone the shopping is fun. I am a full-time housewife . Cooking, cleaning, washing, driving children to school or to sports or ballet. Just the whole program. Whereby my husband takes care of course. We are a well-rehearsed team.

Almost you would have been put out of action. There was a little misfortune ...

Barbara Wussow: Oh, with my toe, yes. I wanted to run behind my daughter and batsch, I was suddenly on the ground and have bruised my toe. So stupid that I have to wear a thick special shoe now. So that the toe is quieted. Luckily, I did not get plaster. Now I'm running a bit strange, but there are worse things in life. When I'm not feeling well physically, I always try to do something about it immediately. I have no patience with pain. Even though it may not be that good, but if you have a headache, for example, I'll take a tablet and it's good.

Are you afraid to stop working?

Barbara Wussow: Sure, because I love my job. Of course, like every actor, I used to have existential fears as well. That's part of it. We are not employees or have regular income. But these fears are now relatively low. In principle, you never know what's coming. For example, my fall on the ground could have been completely different. You are never immune from that. But why should one go crazy with the fear beforehand? I think so positive and get along quite well with it.

They are always positive, never in a mood. That's what your film partner Erol Sander said ....

Barbara Wussow: Oh, thanks for the compliment. I also like to give this back to Erol. For he too is a more than pleasant film partner. We understand each other blindly. When we played together for the first time, it was kind of love at the first movie look. Everything was fine. I like him very much. He has a heartfelt warmth that really comes from within. He is still very spontaneous, funny and collegial. Also with this film, the shooting was fantastic.

Did a kind of friendship come about?

Barbara Wussow: Yes. Unfortunately, it is always the case that everyone has a new challenge after completing the film. Another movie, another shoot, another place. Erol would be the type to help with problems immediately and efficiently. He is a very responsible person. You can rely on him. You can feel it when shooting, when there are complicated situations. He always pays attention to others. That it will not be too dangerous for others. Also with me, when I once had to jump into the cold water for a complicated scene.

Already visually you are a dream couple ...

Barbara Wussow: Oh, Erol Sander has a lovely wife. He loves him and his children above all else and, just like me, is there for his family in every free minute. But it's nice to hear that we also fit together visually well together. Because as we said before, we can work wonderfully without big words. It's like in real life. You meet a human and it fits or it does not fit. Erol and I immediately had the same wavelength. That's nice, because that determines the quality of a film.

Why are you always nice and can not afford to have kids?

Barbara Wussow: Why should I be bitchy? That would be far too negative for me. That would burden me. And regardless of the fact that I'm not like that by nature. It is improper. It also puts pressure on my environment, my colleagues, the team, the whole atmosphere. It would also be unprofessional. Well, I prefer to laugh at myself sometimes, too, than to suffer or to spread suffering. Time and life are far too short for that. Anyway, I'm not the guy who gets upset about something. Why? That brings nothing.

There is a small mismatch between you and Sabine Wussow, your father's widow ...

Barbara Wussow: Oh, what should I say? As it calls into the forest, it calls out of the forest. It's not important to talk about it big. Actually I do not want to hang on to the big bell, but much better is the good contact with my half brother Benjamin. We always meet when I'm in Hamburg. Just last week we met again. He has become incredibly tall. About 1.90 meters. Like my husband. Benjamin is now a real young man at the age of 17. He is very well educated and has very good manners. Also to Constanze, my other half-sister, there is good contact.

Does Benjamin know what he wants to become?

Barbara Wussow: There's still time. He is busy studying for his high school diploma. Otherwise, he lives like all other teenagers. It is nice to see how he developed and what he has for a wonderful charisma. Honest, funny, easy going and he has a wonderful warmth of heart. He will go his way. You do not have to worry about that anymore. Especially since he also has a healthy and realistic attitude to life. His parents would be happy to see him like this. My meeting always gives me a lot. My husband and children like him too.
