Barbara Streisand: "There is still room for love in every age"

In your latest movie, they play an overzealous mother. How is Barbra Streisand private as a mom?

Barbra Streisand: I am a mother who is there for her son. I also ask him for advice. We have a very good relationship.

What is it like to be as famous as you? Is that difficult for your son?

Barbra Streisand: My son does not see me as an icon, but first and foremost as a mother. And that's just as well. I could not handle it badly if he put me on a pedestal.

In the movie, your role suffers from feelings of guilt. Do you know that from reality?

Barbra Streisand: Oh, sure. Mothers develop this feeling of guilt much sooner than fathers. Whenever I worked too much and could not pick up my son from school or bake biscuits with him in the afternoon, I felt guilty. I tried to compensate for it by finding everything that made my child happy. But that was a long time ago.

What do you like about getting older?

Barbra Streisand: Today I enjoy privileges that I did not have before. My husband and I are real night owls. For that we sleep a bit longer in the morning. This freedom is wonderful.

Is it true that the great Barbra Streisand can not cook?

Barbra Streisand: That's right! I can not even get a decent coffee. But I can conjure up a good chocolate soufflé. But, to be honest: I prefer to cook.

Do you think that you can still love yourself in old age?

Barbra Streisand: Of course, why not? You just have to be open to such hope, not to be closed to love .

What do you think, can you learn happiness?

Barbra Streisand: You have to try to live with what you have. You can manage your life, but you also have to overcome hurdles.
