Of course we know each other on the internet. We all know which filters our Instagram images look classier and know what we need to do to make our Facebook profile more interesting than we really are. What we do not know, however, is that we make ourselves punishable with what we do every day on the Internet. The 11 things in our list are all forbidden - and we're pretty sure you've done at least one of these things before. You do not believe us? Then look for yourself!

11 things that are punishable on the Internet

Register kids on Facebook!

Facebook is only allowed from the 13th year. Many children and adolescents, however, already want their own account and persuade older people to set up a profile for them. Who does this, violates the terms and conditions of the network - and makes himself punishable. Also on your own profile you should withhold the posting of pictures of your children.

Download music and videos

Downlaods of music and videos are prohibited, unless the artist has explicitly given his permission! Nevertheless, many files find their way to us.

Upload self-filmed videos of a concert on Youtube

Filming at a concert is - if not otherwise stated on the concert ticket - allowed. The videos then to put on Youtube, but not. Basically, the artist has the exclusive rights to the concert.

Pass login data to payment services

Payment services such as Sky forbid their customers in the terms and conditions to pass their login information to other persons. Services like Netflix or Amazon Prime sometimes allow multiple accesses per household.

Share GIFs

We all love GIFs! The funny moving pictures make it easy for us to say things with a wink and cheer us up the day. What many do not know: sharing the GIFs on Facebook and Co. is not allowed unless you are the author of the GIF.

Strange pictures on the Facebook wall

Even if you do not share any extraneous content on your whiteboard, but your friends happily share alien images, sayings and GIFs, you can be warned. If you do not delete the content from your whiteboard, you are offering the public a platform - which the creator may not want.

Parody accounts on Twitter

You surrender to Twitter as Donald Trump, Maite Kelly or Daniela Katzenberger and feed him with humorous content? Then you may make yourself liable to prosecution! The operation of such a fake account on Twitter is only allowed if you clearly identify it as a fake account.

Connect to unsecured networks

You often log in to an unsecured Wi-Fi network with your mobile phone? Even then, you make yourself punishable, because you actually have to obtain the consent of the owner in advance.

Exploit loopholes from IP and VPN addresses

Because your Netflix account does not work abroad, do you change the VPN (virtual pirate network) and you're done? So you pretend to your provider that you are not abroad at all and thus makes you liable to prosecution.

Blasphemy and lies

Mobbing on the Internet is (fortunately) punishable. Anyone who demonstrably asserts and degrades false facts about others commits slander, which is a special case of insult (ยง 185 StGB). There are imprisonments of up to two years or a fine.

Use stranger pictures as profile picture on Facebook

You've been told many times that you look so much like Kate Moss? Nevertheless, you should not use a photo of her as a profile picture on Facebook, because you are thus in breach of copyright.
