It is the greatest sacrifice that parents can make for their child. A couple from France died in the White Sands desert in the US because they let their 9-year-old son drink more than they did themselves. He was found by park guards beside his dead father.

Although well over 30 degrees, Ornella and David Steiner wanted to hike with his son Enzo in the desert. The mother felt uncomfortable, wanted to get back to the car. He and his father continued to run. Park guards first find the body of the mother. Like a miracle: They examine the woman's camera and discover the son and husband in the photos. Then they also looked for the two.
What they find a little further away is shocking: little Enzo huddles next to the corpse of his thirsty father, according to local police chief Benny House of the newspaper "Alamogordo Daily News". Enzo later tells the rescuers that his parents always let him drink twice as much. That saved the boy's life.
