What women REALLY think about their body

Every woman does not like her body. But especially in the bikini season, the ego-me-not-panic is great - what a pity!

Is your body image distorted? You are not alone!

This butt. These thick upper arms. When it comes to our own appearance, we are anything but friendly to us. Especially in summer, a distorted body image spoils the beach season. When are we particularly critical? HERE!

That nose! These thighs! This belly! These feet! When women look in the mirror, they see: a giant tine, wobble legs, a thick box and square laps. It does not matter if the rest of the world considers her a dream woman. We all know this critical view. A pinch here, a strike there, an idea: But I'm really too fat on the legs!

In fact, studies show that more than half of women are dissatisfied with parts of their bodies. But most of the time the problem is not the character itself, but the negative image one has of it. Many women see too much problem areas such as the stomach or hips - because they are so focused on it. Such distortions of the body image have become increasingly common in recent years, the days in which a supercritical view of the body occurred only in the eating disorders, long gone.

But even if it does not get so extreme, the negative, supercritical view of your own body is damaging anyway. The image that we paint in our mind determines our well-being much more than our actual appearance. Even a Sandra Bullock would not believe a compliment if her inner body image were negative.

A study by the US website Refinery29 has questioned over 1, 000 women about which situation they are most afraid of because of their body. The top three answers: vacation. Beach. Wedding. Just the moments to which we joyfully go for months. And we seem to be spoiled by a "too big butt", "too much belly" or "greasy upper arms". What a pity! Because: Above all self-esteem and lust for life suffer from the shifted self-perception.

If, on the other hand, you design a picture that is far too positive - if, for example, a fat woman looks curvy and has more waist - that is no problem. On the contrary, this woman is strengthened by the loving look.

So just give it a try: Leave all beauty considerations aside for a while. At least try it. Instead, it brings a lot of your own body feeling to experience something with the body. To move, to buy beautiful clothes, to eat with pleasure. And just think again. Because: Who sees his body too negative, harms himself. And takes a lot of joy in life. And that's really not worth it!
