Little girl complained of toothache
A seven-year-old girl from India complained of severe toothache. What was discovered shocked even her doctor.
When her little seven-year- old daughter complained of severe toothache and swollen gums, a mother from Gurgaon, India immediately went with her to the dentist. During the examination, the attending physician discovered Dr. Ajoy Roychoudhary something incredible. In the girl's mouth were 202 false teeth .
The reason for this was apparently a malformation of the tooth germs . These so-called odontomas are benign tumors that consist of tooth hard tissues and increasingly occur in children when the teeth start to develop.
As the British Mirror reports, the head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi said of his discovery: "It was shocking to find such a complex situation in the mouth of a minor child." Some malformed teeth in the mouth of a child are not uncommon. But finding "202 of them in the mouth of a seven-year-old is shocking and our top priority was to remove them."
The little girl had to undergo a two-hour operation that was associated with a high risk in such an extreme case. Although Dr. Ajoy Roychoudhary described the procedure itself as relatively uncomplicated, even a single mistake would have led to lasting damage in the jaw. Fortunately, the operation was exactly as planned. The girl could eat again after the removal of the 202 false teeth . According to her doctors, she will live a normal life.
