Animal deco sewing instructions for a sock sheep

This sheep is both very cute and very simple. They do not need much more than two white socks!

Quick and easy: making this sock sheep self-made is child's play.

Here you will find the complete manual including all pictures for download.

That's what you need for the sock sheep:

  • 2 white tennis socks
  • Sewing machine and matching sewing thread
  • fiberfill
  • Embroidery thread in purple
  • possibly chalk pen
  • fabric scissors
  • sewing needle
  • embroidery needle

And this is how it's done:

1) First, the individual body parts must be cut. To do this, use the overlay (found at the top of the instructions for downloading) as a template and possibly mark the pattern with a chalk pen. When cutting, the socks must lie flat. Cut apart as shown. (The parts shown are used as follows: left sock above body with hind legs, toe = one ear, right sock cuff becomes tail, shaft with heel becomes head, foot becomes front legs, toe becomes ear). Turn items to left. Sew body together as follows.

2) Sew up the head on one side. Sew the front legs together, leave a narrow side open for filling.

3) Sew up the ears, make a small opening to turn. Sew up the tail and leave an opening on a narrow side. Pull all body parts to the right and fill with cotton wool. Sew the body and head by hand as shown, then sew the head to the body. Close arms, ears and tail first and then sew to the body.

4) Embroider eye and nose on head with embroidery thread in basting stitch. Sew on the paw with a basting stitch, then tighten and knot.
