  3. New period for returns

From now on you have to pay the postage for returns yourself. Everything about the new right of withdrawal can be found here!

The new sneakers we order the same time in two shoe sizes, plus a new pair of jeans, maybe a shirt for the best friend. In the past, we were able to fill the shopping cart as we pleased. Returning finally worked fine. In good shops even up to 100 days after receipt of the package. And of course for free. This is now over, because from 13 June 2014, the conditions for returns to online shops have changed, a new EU Directive on consumer rights comes into force.

What that means for all online shoppers, find out here!

Returns are no longer free

Online shops will no longer have to accept postage for returns. The obligation, according to which the shop had to pay the money for the return from a value of 40 euros, is passé. In advance, however, the seller must inform his customers if he does not pay the costs. However, many large online stores, including Zalando, Amazon or H & M, have already stated that they will keep the free returns for the buyer.

Purchase must be revoked before returning

The new blouse does not fit? So off with her in the package and back to the shop - or not? That was once! The purchase must now be explicitly revoked before the return. This works best in writing by mail, fax or mail. A revocation by telephone will not be legally recognized in case of doubt. The letter must indicate the customer number, order number and date. This revocation must also be confirmed in writing by the online shop.

New period for returns

Under the new policies, the buyer will be given a return period of 14 calendar days. This period begins with the receipt of the goods. The seller must clearly point out the new right of revocation, otherwise the customer may in individual cases even return the goods after one year.
