On January 1, 2016, many new laws and legislative changes will come into effect

As of 1 January 2016, a lot will change: child benefit, Hartz IV, care, pension, postage, electronic waste, IBAN ... These are the most important legislative changes from 2016!

For the start of the new year 2016 on Friday, a lot is changing for us. Here is an overview of the most important changes:

Child benefits are available from January 2016 only with tax number

From 1 January 2016, the family fund will need your tax identification number to continue to transfer child allowance.

Mostly, the family fund has this number, and even if you do not, you still have time throughout the year to pass the number. But by the end of the year she needs this number. Otherwise, there is no more child support and it could happen to you that you have to repay what you have received since January 1, 2016 child benefit.

From January 2016, there will be more pensions

How much more pension will exactly be, is only in the spring. However, due to the good economic situation and a "special statistical effect", 2016 is likely to see the most severe increase in pensions for a long time: probably four to five percent more.

Where to start with electronic waste in 2016?

Anyone who has bought a new cell phone or a new TV is always faced with the question: where to go with the old device? Do not throw in the trash, not even in 2016. But from July 24, 2016, large stores are obliged to take back electronic waste.

Porto will be more expensive from 1 January 2016

The Federal Network Agency has approved a significant increase in postage for a standard letter sent via Deutsche Post. Instead of 62 cents shipping costs 70 cents.

If you still have old 62 cent stamps, you need to put an extra 8 cent mark on the letter. These supplement brands are available at the post office.

From 2016 there will be more housing allowance

Living in Germany is becoming more and more expensive. Rents and energy costs are rising. The housing allowance for 2016 will be adjusted accordingly.

The amount of housing benefit payments could rise on average by 39 percent. But how much exactly is calculated individually on the income and rent of the individual housing benefit recipient.

And also a higher standard rate of social assistance and Hartz IV

It's not much for the individual, but at least: who gets social welfare or unemployment benefit II (Hartz IV), will get more money from January 2016.

The standard rate for singles increases from 399 euros to 404 euros per month, for couples from 360 to 364 euros. The basic pension for children is increased by three, and for young people by four Euro per month. The exact services can be read here on the website of the Federal Government >>

Soon we will not be around the IBAN anymore

At least for transfers to private individuals, we have lazily used the classic account number and bank code? That will not work soon.

As of 1 February 2016, we will also have to use the international IBAN (International Bank Account Number) privately.

More support for caregivers and carers

Within the framework of the nursing reform, some changes will come into force on January 1, 2016.

For example, anyone who does not need long-term care is entitled to transitional care after hospital treatment.

Relatives who look after a person in need of care will be entitled to care advice from 2016 onwards. However, the person in need of care must agree to this advice. The consultation can even take place in the home of the person in need of care.

Dying people in nursing homes should be better cared for. From 2016, the homes are required to cooperate with outpatient hospice services. In addition, they must conclude cooperation agreements with GPs and specialists.

A female quota in leadership positions

More than a hundred publicly traded companies will have to implement the 30 percent women's quota in 2016 when appointing new members of the Supervisory Board. Of course, existing male supervisory boards are not dismissed because of the women's quota. But if a top management job becomes vacant and less than 30 percent of women work at that level, the job must be filled with a new woman.

Students can breathe a sigh of relief: more BAföG

Of course, rising living costs also affect students. Therefore, the BAföG will be increased from the winter semester 2016/2017, ie from October 2016. In basic needs, the rate rises from 373 to 399 euros a month, the rule requirement for students living outside applies from the fall, a rate of 649 euros, instead of 597 euros so far.
