We love blemishes. Especially if they can support a sustainable initiative. Netto Marken-Discount sells asparagus from the home in the middle of June with minor blemishes, thereby promoting farmers from the region.
Under the motto "Nature has its own diversity", Netto Marken-Discount has been selling food with small flaws for two years now. Last year there were apples, asparagus spears this year. And also in the future, domestic products that optically deviate from the norm should be sold on special days at reasonable prices. "These sustainability actions strengthen the appreciation of food in the public. Cooperation with German producers and farmers is a high priority for us. We continue to expand these partnerships by selling groceries with flaws in our fruit and vegetable department, "said Christina Stylianou, director of corporate communications at Netto Marken-Discount.
The action takes place from 11.6. until 13.6.2015 in parts of the following federal states: North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as in Hamburg and Berlin. Compared to the regular assortment of the commercial class 1, the crooked rods are about 60 percent cheaper (2.99 € / 1.5 kg basket).
