Beach, sun and the best DJs in the world: JOY reporter Monica Gumm has checked what's going on on the dance island
TALKTHEMA Relaxing on the beach during the day, dancing to the sound of one of the world's best DJs in the evenings - when party fans imagine paradise like this, then they've found it: in Ibiza. The hot season will open this summer the DJ godfather Sven Väth in the legendary Amnesia and Pete Tong in Pacha.
SHOPPEN Maybe the best fun before any party: shopping! In the season the shops are open until midnight. Cultig: the only branch of US shoe queen Beverly Feldman (Calle Bartolomé Vicente Ramón) in Europe. No less unusual: fashion & accessories by Basque designer Paloma Santaolalla at Nice Days Nice Things. And what would Ibiza be without a touch of Flower Power? On Saturdays, the hippie market "Las Dalias" takes place in San Carlos - what began small in 1954 is today a colorful gathering with 120 stalls.
EATING Between after-party and extensive chill-outam beach is time for the best breakfast on the island: croissant and coffee at the "Croissant Show" (Mercado Viejo, Ibiza). Indicator of quality: There you meet locals. As in the "Ibiza Café" (Plaza del Parque, Ibiza) - the German owner Patrick likes to give insider tips. One of the most beautiful places for dinner: "El Divino" (Puerto Ibiza Nuevo) - with a beautiful view of the marina. Then it goes to the club of the same name.
NIGHTLIFE Cult venues like the Privilege, Amnesia, Pacha or Space open at midnight - and then it gets very crowded very quickly. Tip: Pre-order tickets online. If you really want to get in the mood for the night, head to one of the sunset bars for a "warm dance". For example, the legendary "Café del Mar" in San Antonio.
SLEEPING Super Central: The "Hostal La Marina" is located directly on the harbor (Calle Barcelona 7, Puerto de Ibiza, double room from 61 Euro). Similar location, only quieter: the "Ocean Drive" (Playa de Talamanca, Ibiza, double room from 185 euros).
