Wash hair with flour?

Eggs, beer or olive oil - there are plenty of alternatives to chemical shampoos. But we have never heard of this one ingredient for hair washing. Rye flour should be the miracle cure for beautiful hair. Try it out or rather stay for a while?

In the shampoo-free scene (yes, there is something like that) there are always the strangest ways to properly care for the hair even without shampoo. One of them is rye flour. That contains a lot of vitamin B5. And that plays a big role in everything around the hair. It counteracts hair loss and graying and is important in hair and mucous membrane diseases. It also binds moisture: ideal for dry hair. So why not get it in your hair?

that's how it works

Rye flour is available in almost every supermarket or in the big drugstores (dm, Alnatura , 1 kg, about 1.30 Euro)

Provide a small container with a little lukewarm tap water. You need a tea strainer for that.

Then start to brush the flour with a tablespoon through the sieve. This does not help the coarse particles later in the hair to distribute. Because these would collect in the hair while washing.

When a gelatinous mass has formed, the "flour shampoo" is ready.

Now moisten the hair as normal and distribute the water-flour mixture in the hair. You have a slightly soapy feeling. It can even cause foam bubbles.

Washing out is the hardest part. It takes a while until the hair is freed from the flour and even if you feel that the hair is clean, you will still find here and there small flour particles.

The result

It's worth it: The hair is fluffy and clean. Washing with flour is especially worthwhile for women with thin hair, because the light residues of the flour make the hair grippy and a little firmer.
