Travel tip

Mallorca's little sister is considered a party Dorado. But the Balearic Island also offers beautiful nature and tranquility.

When I told my friends that I was going to Ibiza, everyone wished me a lot of fun at the endless parties and disco nights. Nobody wanted to believe me, that I wanted to recover first of all.

The Spanish Balearic Island, which is located southeast of Mallorca, not only has to offer the legendary nightlife. For example, there are wonderful sandy beaches. Although the Mediterranean island is only 40 kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide, you have the choice of 60 beaches, including many secluded bays.

My favorite is the Cala d'Hort in the west of the island. The beach is not very large, but you have a magnificent view of the mysterious rocky island of Es Vedra, which is said to belong to Atlantis. Apart from that there is the fantastic beach restaurant "del Carmen" where I enjoy an excellent paella. And you can see pretty girls and crunchy men populating the beaches all over Ibiza.

Very rewarding is also a visit to the capital Ibiza Town with its 42 000 inhabitants, almost half of the islanders. I particularly liked the old town Dalt Vila with the well 1000 years old Arab fortress and the city wall. From there you have a unique view of the city and the sea. Here I also make a holiday night for the day: In the well-known nightclub "Pacha" (entrance from 30 c) I celebrate under good-humored revelers until the morning.

After recovering from it for a day, a trip to Punta Arabi is on the program. On Wednesday, Ibiza's oldest and largest hippy market takes place in the small town near Santa Eularia. Between stands with Indian silver jewelery, colorful batik dresses and oriental hookahs, I feel like the 70s are not over yet.

Time travel is also a trip to the hinterland of Ibiza. The gnarled olive trees, between which sheep graze, and the white, cube-shaped farmhouses could easily come from another century. But the famous "Café del Mar" in Sant Antoni is up to date every day. Just in time for the sunset, you sit here and watch as the sun slowly sinks in relaxed Del Mar music: a gentle, beautiful dream.
