Pretty wrapped knitting instructions for two different windlight covers

Candles are always in season - a new coat of paint for our lanterns would be appropriate in between, we find. That's why we crochet these lanterns with our instructions!

Our windlight covers come in two different patterns.

What you need for the windlight covers:

Windscreen cover in ajour ribbed pattern (left)
(finished size, unstretched: circumference 20 cm, height 11 cm):

  • Schachenmayr original Catania Fine in white (Fb 01000), 50 g (1 ball is enough for four windlight covers)
  • Needle game 2-3
  • Glass wind light with wooden base diameter 8.5 cm, 13 cm high by Rayher (item 87 300 00)

Windlight cover in ajour pattern (right)
(finished size, unstretched: circumference 24 cm, height 11 cm):

  • Schachenmayr original Catania Fine in white (Fb 01000) and coral (01003), each 50 g (1 ball is sufficient for 4 lanterns)
  • Needle game 2-3
  • Glass wind light with wooden base diameter 8.5 cm, 13 cm high by Rayher (item 87 300 00)

And this is how it's done:

Windlight cover in ajour ribbed pattern:

MESH TENSION: Needle size 2-3 for plain right is 28 M and 36 rows = 10 cm², for Ajour ribbing 48 M and 44 Rd are 10 x 10 cm.
Mesh number divisible by 6.
Rd 1: * 1 st in left, 2 sts in right, 1 sts left, 1 st, 1 sts to the right, knit the following sts to the right and pull off the raised sts, repeat from *.
Rd 2: 1 st in the left, 2 sts in the right.
Rd 3: * 1 st at the left, 2 st at the right, 1 st at the left, knit 2 sts at the right, 1 st, repeating from * repeat.
Rd 4: Knit as Rd 2.
Always repeat Rd 1-4.
1. Cast 66 sts on the double pointed needles, close the round and continue working in the ajour rib pattern.
2. At about 10-11 cm, in a 2nd or 4th round of Ajour ribbed sts, knit as described and bind off.
3. Sew threads and pull over the glass cylinder.

Windlight cover in ajour pattern:

MESH TENSION: With needle size 2-3 in the case of smooth right correspond to 28 M and 36 rows = 10 cm², in the ajour pattern correspond to 26 M and 40 Rd = 10 cm².
Mesh number divisible by 4.
Rd 1-2: all M right str.
Rd 3: * 1 turn, 2 sts right knit, 2 sts right, repeat from *.
Rd 4-5: all M right str.
Rd 6: * 2 sts on right, 1 YO, knit 2 sts on right, repeat from *.
Repeat Rd 1-6 always.
1. Cast 64 sts on the double pointed needles, close the round, and knit one round of left st, then continue working in the ajour pattern.
2. At about 10-11 cm height, after a 1st or 4th round of the ajour pattern, knit one more left and tie off.
3. Sew threads and pull over the glass cylinder.
