Crowdfunding for abortion

Crowdfunding is a worldwide trend. Many start-up companies without equity use this tool to advance and finance their projects. But even people who urgently need money for an operation, for example, use this method. The principle is simple: On an Internet platform, such as " GoFundMe ", you can describe his concerns. Other users who want to support one can donate money through the platform. Actually a great thing! But a young woman from Illinois used GoFundMe for a very questionable action.
The young woman is called Bailey. She is four months pregnant. The 23-year-old does not want to have the baby, but has no money to pay for an abortion. This costs $ 2, 500 in America during her pregnancy. Her boyfriend, who is not the father of a child, wants to help her and starts the crowdfunding campaign " Bailey's Abortion Fund ". That's right, an abortion funding! On the page GoFundMe he writes:
"Bailey is currently unemployed, completely broke, in debt [...] and unable to keep a job. Apart from the fact that she does not want to raise a child, she is economically unstable and hardly able to finance herself [...] "
Originally only acquaintances and friends of the couple should follow the crowdfunding appeal. But then the whole action became much bigger than expected and more and more people noticed. Within two days, $ 1, 654 has already been donated to abortion. But there were also extremely many negative reactions. Bailey tells VICE magazine in detail how it came about. Shortly after publication of the interview, GoFundMe stops its financing action. She receives an e-mail telling her that her campaign will be terminated due to complaints received. The company does not want to be associated with the cause of their campaign. However, the donations received so far will still be paid to her. However, Bailey already has enough money to pay for the abortion. But is it really legit to donate like that? We find that very questionable!
