Unfortunately, it soon popped out. Because the official, original air bubble film manufacturer Sealed Air Corporation has, according to the Wall Street Journal, announced that the bubble wrap should get a new design. And with the new design you can not pop anymore!
The new bubble wrap is flat and the "bubbles" are linked together like an ice cube bag. This has the advantage that the film can be transported before it has been inflated - and thus the film consumes 50 times less space. The one who really wants to use the film for cushioning can inflate the film.
We understand the meaning behind it ... but ... but ... manno!
Was it that with our beautiful childhood memory? Can we never drive our colleagues crazy with our tender pop popping? Or calm our nerves with the crushing of small bubbles?
Luckily, there are (still?) Many other manufacturers of classic bubble wrap. Let's hope that they stay true to the old design.
