An interview with Thomas Gottschalk (59) is always a very special experience. This time NEUE POST met the moderator on a plane: Thomas Gottschalk accompanied 150 children to the excursion to France for the Haribo action "The Flying Classroom". NEW POST flew in and used the opportunity to talk to him about their own children, wife Thea and his dress style.
They enjoy working with children. Her own sons Tristan and Roman are long gone. Is it calmer now?
Thomas Gottschalk: No, it's never quiet with us, and boredom does not come up either. We have a lot of animals in Malibu, not to mention a small zoo. My wife has a big heart for animals. In addition to our Pyrenean mountain dogs "Mogli" and "Masco" we have four cats. We had two at first, but then Thea brought two blind cats to put them to sleep. That's what prevented them - and that's why they're with us now.
Where do you feel more at home? In the castle in Remagen or in Malibu?
Thomas Gottschalk: My home is Germany. There are my roots, friends. There's my audience, I earn my money there. But my home is where my family is. And she lives in America.

Thomas Gottschalk: In the summer issue of "Wetten, dass ..?" In Mallorca Michelle Hunziker asked if she would like to participate. People got a bit tired of me after 20 years. Michelle brings new spontaneity with her, she is cheerful, has a great charisma.
To stay fit, you live very disciplined, doing a fasting cure every year.
Thomas Gottschalk: Of course I try to keep the weight reasonably. I do sports every morning, exercise, and try not to eat carbs in the evening. That is not always easy. Sometimes I hit the strings too. But the suits are still fine.
An unusual wardrobe is not lacking ...
Thomas Gottschalk: My wardrobe is an unfathomable fund. The other day, our neighbor, a dentist, burned down the house. So I packed some suitcases with my suits and gave them to him. But it's not true that my wife chooses all my things. I buy my own clothes. How many suits I have, I do not know, but I always find something suitable ...
