Healthy teeth on schedule

CLEANING

In the morning you brush your teeth, clear. But before or after breakfast? That depends: if you eat honey or jam, clean it afterwards. If the breakfast is more fruit and / or juice, brush your teeth before. Because fruit acids soften the tooth enamel, while brushing would then lost some of it. In the evening you clean at least 40 minutes after the last meal. After that you should not drink anything except water. Cleaning time in each case: at least two minutes.

THE BRUSH

Soft toothbrushes are better than hard ones, as too firm bristles rub tooth enamel and cause minor injuries to the gums. Then bacteria can invade and trigger periodontitis (tooth inflammation).

THE TECHNOLOGY

Place the brush on the teeth approximately at a 45-degree angle. Smooth from the gum to the tooth with a slight jerk. Work out tooth by tooth, do not forget occlusal surfaces and backs. Too complicated? Then get yourself an electric toothbrush.

Once a day

TOOTH SPACES BETWEEN

The cleans you best in the evening after brushing your teeth. Because with the normal toothbrush you can not reach the gaps. But right there accumulate food leftovers, from which feed on bacteria and form over time harmful deposits. For the spaces there are:

DENTAL FLOSS

It is important that you do not hurt the gums with the thread. The technique shows you the best of the dentist. Practical help: In the pharmacy there are plastic holders for dental floss - this is also possible without instruction from the doctor.

INTERDENTAL BRUSH

There are also in the pharmacy in different strengths. Interdental brushes are more effective than flosses for larger spaces - and you can also reach troughs in the gum between the teeth.

ZAHNHÄRTUNG

Once a day you should harden the enamel with a special fluoride gel. It is used like normal toothpaste. Another advantage: The fluoride can help with pain-sensitive tooth necks. Tip: Initial bleeding of the gums is normal. But if that does not happen after about ten days, you should go to the dentist.

Once a month

TOOTHBRUSH

Every three months should you change the toothbrush? No, better every month, experts advise. Because: Bacteria settle on the bristles. The more time they have to multiply, the more likely they are to get gingivitis. Therefore, you should change even after a cold over the brush immediately - sure is safe.

TONGUE SCRAPER

Use a soft model (pharmacy) made of rubber. With that, you gently scrap your tongue off now and then. For hygienic reasons you change the tongue scraper every month.

Twice a year

TO THE DENTIST

Let him check if everything is alright. He removes tartar, which pays the cash. If caries suggests, then this can often be treated without drilling with special gel by the so-called caries infiltration.

Once a year

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING

Unfortunately, they do not pay legal coffers (from approx. 50 euros), but the money is well invested: stubborn coverings are carefully removed, gum pockets are cleaned, the teeth are polished and, if desired, coated with hardening lacquer.
