Photo project "Salty Girls" shows women with cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis)

In cystic fibrosis, the body suffers from many treatments, surgeries and, of course, the symptoms of the disease - which can also be seen externally. Photographer Ian Pettigrew shows that women with cystic fibrosis can still feel beautiful.

The photo project is called "Salty Girls", because one of the symptoms of the treacherous disease is cystic fibrosis, or cystic fibrosis, extremely salty sweat and thus a salty skin.

Hereditary disease is the most common congenital metabolic disease in fair-skinned people. There is no cure, doctors can only fight the symptoms. The life expectancy of those affected is between 30 and 40 years.

The photographer Ian Pettigrew wants to show with his pictures how beautiful and strong people are with this disease. That's why he has already photographed nearly 60 women with cystic fibrosis: "These women are inspiring and fearless and we hope to give younger patients hope."
