looks great and is not that complicated. The knotting technique actually comes from the Orient and was brought to Europe by the Moors. In Arabic, macrame stands for "weaving". Especially in the 70s, macrame was very popular.
This macrame is not stale, but can be quite modern. Jewelery, cushion covers or lampshades: Those who can make macramé create individual pieces. The imagination knows no limits.
How does macrame work?
There is a distinction between two types of threads. Threads that wear knots are called carrier threads. Threads that become a knot are called work threads. Carrier threads never form loops. For example, in macrame flower pots the pot hangs on the carrier threads and are linked with work threads.

The most important macrame thread is the cross knot . It consists of two half nodes. This node forms the basis for all other nodes. You always knit with four threads. Two carrier threads and two work threads. How exactly do you tie that up, you see in the video below.
Length of the threads in the macrame
The rule of thumb applies to the thread length: If you make simple knots, you need about four times the length of thread. If you make patterns with many gaps, you should plan in a little less thread.
To make something special, you can also knot beads into your macrame knot. You should keep to regular intervals, then it looks even better.
Where can you buy macrame supplies?
