The right answer can be argued. But not about whether your own well-being is individual. Whether dress size 38 or 46: You can feel more healthy and happy even with a few extra pounds. And that's exactly what Nicole Jankowski tries to explain in an impressive blog entry.

Diet, appearance and health are becoming more and more a status symbol in our society. Paleo, vegan or low carb: who eats healthy and looks good, arrives and becomes a role model. Societal constraints or findings from science make it almost impossible to eat "carefree". Diet and weight have become the focus of life for many people, either consciously or subconsciously. That's what bothers Nicole Jankowski.

"I want to live a healthy life, I try to live well, I do not eat much meat, but I eat a lot of cheese and brussels sprouts, and spinach, I read through ingredients and put bread back, if that's the first word is enriched in the list.

I drink a green smoothie every morning. Wrumm wrumm. The mixer vibrates under my fingers, I add chia and linseed. I like the taste and the consistency. The green. I imagine the antioxidants flowing through my veins, "Go-Go-Gadget-Vitamin-E".

Of course, sometimes I also eat a dessert. Desserts are known to contain little meat. And I really like desserts. "

As Nicole nourishes herself, countless women are now doing it: always pay attention to health, but the constant renouncement of the small sins in between does not work either. Actually, ok, if there was not the opinion of others.

"Honestly, can a woman's health be measured by how thick and fleshy the curve of her hips is? Are my days numbered just because I'm 42, 44, or 46, is that why I'm delivered? Judging by the numbers in my swimsuit rather than the lab results from my doctor.

They believe that one recognizes a healthy woman on her hip circumference. Forget the science. Whistle on numbers. Go to hell, doctor. It is the modern beauty ideals that should cause us concern. Because they tell me everything I need to know. "

Because what Nicole can do with her self-confidence or her physical strength, other people do not see. A taut, well-trained person will gain admiring glances. Anyone who is a bit above normal weight is usually not expected to have a good physical fitness.

"Sometimes my thighs rub against each other while I knead pizza dough.

Sometimes I'm the only one in the house strong enough to open a glass of dill pickles.

Once I carried a bed up two flights of stairs, all alone.

These things, these immaterial things, are not recognizable by the thick flesh-ridges over my knees. So they do not count.

But that's what really counts: On the beach, a girl whispered, "I like the thick girl's swimsuit, " as I ran past her.

I swam very far out until the waves drowned the girl's voice. Then I swam back. I'm the fat girl in the green bathing suit. In contrast to my porcelain touch it even shimmers emerald green. I am a mermaid. A soft, surging mermaid. All this meat is my wonderful oyster.

"This swimsuit is made only for fat girls, " I said softly to the girl as I sifted through the sand on my way back to my seat. "
