You emphasize so often that you are not a man to marry. Are you really convinced of that? George Clooney : Absolutely. It's always the same thing: in a relationship inevitably comes the moment in which one is in the hair. If that's the case, I'm mentally at the bottom because I think: in a good relationship there should be no quarrel. And instead of thinking about how to solve the dispute and save love, I prefer to end it. When my marriage collapsed (with Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993, editor's note), I ended marriage forever with the institution. My fear is that I would make a lousy husband. You have in your parents but a great marriage model. George Clooney : That's right. My father saw my mother, invited her for dinner, and proposed marriage to her that evening. Now my parents have been happily married for 51 years. So I know first-hand that there is great love at first sight. But apart from my parents, I have never experienced that at anybody else. And as I know myself, I doubt that such a thing is in my stars. Then the stars are also bad for your own children? George Clooney : Yes. I am too busy with my work. Getting offspring would not be a smart move for me - too much responsibility. That being said, to have children, I need a mother for them. But since I am not looking for a woman who fits in with this role, I probably do without junior staff.
